Hey, it's sunset week. Let's start it off with a sunset shot from the just departed sunken ship, The Explorer taken during better times when it was still afloat.

Well, it looks like she's gone. I sort of feel sad having spent ten days on board. It was a nice little ship, not a big cruise ship like the lifeboat. The staff on board were incredibly knowledgeable and polite, and of course the Antarctic scenery is incredible. They also had a piano on board which was the only time I was able to play the keys while travelling for a year and a half. Damn, I wish someone would have saved that piano.

This is crazy. I was on this sinking ship in March of 2006 on a trip to Antarctica.

A boat makes its way across the Mekong River from Laos to Thailand. Security is pretty lax here, so you could pretty much swim across the Mekong if for some reason you needed to flee one of these countries, although the current is pretty strong, that you might end up in Cambodia first.

I once spent 12 hours in Hong Kong. About 8 hours of that time was spent here napping on a bench.

With the screenwriters strike going on, lots of your favorite crappy shows are on hold. So instead tune into nature for interesting theatre.

It's getting close. Explore Travel Guides by Autum Publications, is publishing my guidebook on Buenos Aires as we speak. Hopefully it'll be on the shelves soon.

58,000 gallons of oil has spilled into San Francisco Bay due to a tanker crashing into the Bay Bridge tower. Thousands of birds and wildlife have been affected during their feeding season. People suck.

The Feds just announced that the economy is going from shitty to shittier. Pretty soon, these counterfeit bills will be worth the same as the actual bills they're trying to imitate. A British guy I met withdrew 400 USD's out of an ATM one night, and came out with these counterfeit bills. There's a big counterfeit scam in Bolivia, and many of the bank workers are in on it. Never withdraw USD's in Bolivia. At least wait till the US economy is completely in the shitter.

When at home, I like to take my dog for a walk through the city. In Bolivia, they sometimes take their chicken for out for some exercise.

For a mere $200, you can be in one of these balloons flying high over the Cappadocia landscape. But the view is just as nice from down low.
