Woodward Video Production Camp
Pennsylvania is done. Nine weeks working 72-hours-a-week is done. Camp Woodward now officially has a summer of Video Production Camp in the can. And to snag a quote from Charles Dickens, "It was the best of times, it was the worst of times". It was the best because... are you kidding me? It's Woodward! And it's still the "most elite sports camp in the world". Where else can you find an Amish farmer, 500 skateboarders, and Olympic Gold Medalist Dominique Moceanu on the same street? It was the worst, well, mainly because the place seems to run on styrofoam and processed hamburgers. It's a gnarly sight to see 800 campers each week, double-fisting a cheese burger in one hand and a cup of soda in the other. Maybe I'm too eco-conscious for The Keystone State?

one of the best things about camp was getting to meet all of the up and coming filmers... or was it playing dodgeball... no its the campers. and seeing Phil in zombie makeup. SO many young guns out there, who are getting good. For me, the funnest was helping these young bolts to become well rounded and progress into actual producers, not just filmers and editors. there's the difference.

one week i had a camper whose vx2100 blew a fuse on the first day. all the footage came out yellow, probably because one of the CCDs died!
instead of abandoning his project and all the good footage, we made a plan to make a sick "black and white" video. we turned the color all the way down in his 2100, and then learned how to adjust contrast in Final Cut Pros three-way color correcting. needless to say, with all the great skating at camp, the video turned out to be sick. and it was creative too... the only B&W video all summer!
